TITLE: SET CHARACTER ATTRIBUTE ON WY-60 WITH IBM3161 PERSONALITY DATE: 10/28/92 PRODUCT: WY60 THE ISSUE: WY60's IBM 3161 Set Character Attributes don't work as IBM RESOLUTION: There has been reported a problem with using certain Set Character Attributes command in IBM3161 personality. The following describes the proper SET ATTRIBUTE command with options: Esc 4 where Pa1 is a variable having different functions depending on which bit is set: Pa1 Bit 7: Always 1 6: Always 0 5: Non-Display (Blank) 4: High Intensity 3: Blink 2: Underline 1: Reverse e.g. To set Non-Display and Reverse is Pa1 = 01010001 = 51(hex) which is the character Q. The problem with the WY-60 is that turning on bit 5 of Pa1 has no effect on the screen output. A work-around was found, however. If you turn on bit 6, the correct attributes are displayed including Non-Display (Blank)! The code that the terminal recognizes from the above example would then become 01110001 = 71(hex) = the character q. The following is a list of all Set Character Attribute possibilities: Command Non-Disp HexVal/Pa1 Description ---------------------------------------------------------------- Esc 4 a (q) 61 Reverse Video Esc 4 b (r) 62 Underline Esc 4 c (s) 63 Reverse/Underline Esc 4 d (t) 64 Blink Esc 4 e (u) 65 Blink/Reverse Esc 4 f (v) 66 Blink/Underline Esc 4 g (w) 67 Blink/Underline/Reverse Esc 4 h (x) 68 Bold (High Intensity) Esc 4 i (y) 69 Bold/Reverse Esc 4 j (z) 6A Bold/Underline Esc 4 k ([) 6B Bold/Underline/Reverse Esc 4 l (\) 6C Bold/Blink Esc 4 m (]) 6D Bold/Blink/Reverse Esc 4 n (^) 6E Bold/Blink/Underline Esc 4 o (_) 6F Bold/Blink/Underline/Reverse =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= DISCLAIMER =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= This information is intended to inform WYSE personnel and WYSE customers of certain issues in a timely fashion.
