TOPIC: COMMUNICATION PORT FAILURE ON WY60 DATE: 12/17/92 PRODUCT: WY60 THE ISSUE: Modem or Aux port does not communicate. OVERVIEW: Symptom: Assume the WY60 and host or printer is setup at 9600 baud. The terminal will not communicate with host or printer. (garbage will appear) If the baud rate is set to 19.2 on the terminal, then communication will take place "correctly", even though the terminal setup is "incorrect". RESOLUTION: The problem is the terminal needs repair. An incorrect part was inserted in position U3 on the WY60 PCB ( P/N 940921-0x ) during manufacture. The correct part is EPCI 2661 "B". The bad part is identified by "C" in place of the "B". The WYSE p/n for U3 is 205501-01, which is specified as the "B" part. Manufacturing loopback test will not catch this problem! This test only checks to see the ports send and recieve at the same speed, not what the speed is. All Service Centers should check WY60 PCB's as they are used for the correct chip in location U3. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= DISCLAIMER =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= This information is intended to inform WYSE personnel and WYSE customers of certain issues in a timely fashion.
