Wyse® Winterm™ 1 series Thin Client Documentation and Sample User Configuration Profiles Files – ReadMe

This ReadMe provides information on the documentation and sample user configuration profiles files for the Wyse® Winterm™ 1 series Thin Client.

Documentation

Documentation for the Wyse® Winterm™ 1 series Thin Client can be found at:

http://www.wyse.com/manuals.

At this Web site, you can view the documentation by using the PDF or the HTML link or place the documentation on your own network by using the Download .exe link.

To place the documentation on your own network:

  1. Download the two self-extracting compressed documentation files, Users Guide and Admin Guide, from the Wyse Web site (Users Guide is the Users Guide: Wyse® Winterm™ 1 series, Based on Wyse Thin OS and Admin Guide is the Administrators Guide: Wyse® Winterm™ 1 series, Based on Wyse Thin OS).

  1. Extract the documentation files to their own folders (a Web server is suggested).
For example, you can extract the files to
\Inetpub\wwwroot\ on a server with Microsoft® Internet Information Server installed. If you then accept the defaults on the extract files invocation (use folder name), the document is extracted to the directory inetpub\wwwroot\Userhelp\ or \Inetpub\wwwroot\AdminHelp depending on the guide you have chosen to download.

  1. After extracting the files of a guide, you can enter the guide by double-clicking the Index.htm of the guide.

CAUTION: After the first extraction, do not extract any internal .zip files.

Sample User Configuration Profiles Files

Sample user configuration profiles files for the Wyse® Winterm™ 1 series Thin Client can be found at: http://www.wyse.com/products/winterm/reference/1series.

Download the self-extracting compressed file Sample_ini.exe from the Wyse Web site by using the Download .zip link. Extraction produces three files: wnos.kiosk, wnos.login, and user.ini. The filename extension of either of the wnos.kiosk or wnos.login files should be changed to .ini when put into use (only one of the two files is required). The username of the user.ini file should be changed to that of an actual sign-on username (copies will be required for individual users). The files are liberally annotated with explanatory comments. These files also appear in the Administrators Guide: Wyse® Winterm™ 1 series, Based on Wyse Thin OS, which includes instructions for modifying them according to your needs. Whenever updates or additional sample files become available they will be posted on this Wyse Web site.
