Wyse Introduces Latest Release of the Industry-leading Management Software Solution for Desktop Virtualization Deployments in Public and Private Clouds

New Imaging, Ease of Use and Asset Management Enhancements Deliver Security, Reliability, and Flexibility with Lower TCO for IT Departments

Wyse Technology, the global leader in cloud client computing, today announced Wyse Device Manager™ (WDM) 4.8, the most sophisticated enterprise-class management tool for cloud clients.  This new version adds key capabilities to address management requirements for virtual desktops in businesses and institutions.

From operations to administration to end users, WDM reduces desktop support costs and minimizes downtime.  The new, more reliable autogenic imaging feature enables updates while thin clients are in use, eliminates risk of corruption due to network or power failure during updates, and works over LAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, and Fiber-NIC.  Version 4.8 also reduces image download time and bandwidth consumption by up to 60%.

With millions of licenses sold, WDM continues to be the most flexible management tool in its class, with WAN capable imaging and enhanced asset management, including new functionality for clients based on Windows Embedded Standard 2009 and Windows Embedded Standard 7.

Additionally, WDM 4.8 provides asset management and health monitoring for the new Wyse Xenith™ zero client, and support for Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 platforms. The new release of WDM has significant ease-of-use improvements, including a script builder utility, filtered device views and a single advanced view configuration window, and supports fully qualified domain names (FQDN).

"By giving users more security and flexibility when deploying thin clients, Wyse is continuing to deliver more value," said Daghan Altas, Product Manager for Wyse Technology. "We have worked very closely with our customers and focused on their need to accelerate and simplify their VDI deployments. By adding more imaging and device management capabilities and autogenic imaging to WDM, we now provide the most robust set of management tools in the industry. Our customers can easily deploy and manage thin clients across the hall or across the globe. "

WDM 4.8 includes a Workgroup and Enterprise edition.  The Workgroup version is included at no extra charge with the purchase of a Wyse thin client and manages up to 750 clients, whereas the Enterprise edition manages an unlimited number of clients and includes several additional features.
