San Jose, CA –
10/22/2002 -
- Wyse® Technology, the industry's number one supplier of Windows Powered thin clients, today announced the company has been honored by Microsoft Corp. as 2002 Windows Embedded Partner of the Year in the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) category. Wyse was chosen for its ongoing efforts to maintain Windows Powered devices as the industry standard in the thin-client market. Microsoft recognized Wyse for business excellence in delivering new, innovative Windows XP Embedded thin-client solutions and collaborating on the ongoing development of the Windows XP Embedded platform. Wyse was honored at the Microsoft Windows Embedded Partner Summit in Las Vegas on October 21, 2002. "Microsoft is pleased to recognize Wyse's ongoing commitment to thin-client innovation and the Windows Embedded family of operating systems," said Scott Horn, director of the Embedded and Appliance Platforms Group at Microsoft. "Wyse is a leader in thin-client development and has been instrumental in proving that the combination of Windows Powered devices and Microsoft Terminal Services is ideal for server-centric enterprise computing."
Embedded Partner of the Year - Three Years Running
Wyse has a long history of working with Microsoft towards the advancement and market adoption of Windows Powered thin clients. Most recently, Wyse's participation in the Microsoft Windows XP Embedded Joint Development Program (JDP) helped shape and influence the design of Windows XP Embedded, and ensured that the security and manageability needs of thin-client customers were addressed. The company's ongoing support of this operating system allows Wyse to be first to market with its Windows XP Embedded-based thin-client devices, introducing these latest additions to the Wyse Winterm 9000 series in August 2002.
"Industry leadership can only be obtained through solid relationships, and our relationship with Microsoft over the past three years has evolved to the point that we work together to drive Windows Powered thin clients to new levels," said Brad Rowland, director of product management at Wyse. "Microsoft's Embedded OEM Partner of the Year award demonstrates both our technological leadership and ability to rapidly meet customer demand by bringing new Microsoft Windows Powered solutions to market."
Windows XP Embedded is the most powerful Windows Embedded platform for the enterprise. It delivers binary compatibility with Windows XP and provides customers access to more than 10,000 drivers and services designed for Windows XP, advanced Web browsing capabilities and integrated support for the Microsoft .NET Framework. Microsoft .NET delivers the ability to quickly build and deploy connected, secure solutions with XML Web services. Wyse's Windows XP Embedded-based Winterm thin clients can be instantly and securely deployed to tap into the utility of these Web services.
