Thin-Client Market Leader Shares Embedded OS Expertise Through Participation In Microsoft's Rapid Development Program
San Jose, CA –
09/04/2001 -
- Wyse® Technology, the worldwide leader in thin-client computing, today announced its participation in Microsoft's Windows XP Embedded Rapid Development Program (RDP) for the beta releases of Windows XP Embedded. As a member of this program, Wyse is helping to shape and influence the design of Windows XP Embedded, and will be among the first to deliver a Windows XP Embedded-based product to market. Wyse's involvement in the Windows XP Embedded Rapid Development Program will enable the company to reduce development time for its own Windows XP Embedded-based devices, and continuous contact with the Microsoft development team will allow Wyse to ensure that the varying needs of thin-client customers are addressed within the Windows XP Embedded operating system. "In being selected as Microsoft's Embedded Partner of the Year in 2000, Wyse demonstrated its clear technological and industry leadership as well as the company's ability to rapidly bring new Microsoft-based thin-client solutions to market," said George Skaff, vice president of worldwide marketing at Wyse Technology. "By helping to fine-tune Windows XP Embedded through participation in the RDP program, Wyse is ensuring that our future Windows XP Embedded-based products meet the growing needs of the thin-client industry."
Wyse's Winterm thin clients deliver high-quality streaming media, Internet access and other value-added applications to enterprises, education, hospitality, banking and financial, and healthcare segments, allowing people to communicate information easily and affordably. The industry's most complete line of thin clients utilizes National Semiconductor's (NYSE: NSM) Geode™ technology, and are currently based on the Microsoft Windows CE and Windows NT Embedded operating systems.
"As market demand for cost-effective, rich, connected thin clients grows, Wyse was a clear choice for participation in the Windows XP Embedded Rapid Development Program," said Keith White, director of marketing for the Embedded Appliance Platforms Group at Microsoft Corp. "By working closely with our Windows Embedded Partner of the Year, Microsoft is ensuring that our newest embedded operating system receives intensive real-world feedback, resulting in the best solution for our joint customers."
